Early Monday, President Donald Trump claims that the media are ignoring terrorist attacks, and of course, without providing any factual evidence to support the claim.
President Trump made the statement during a speech to U.S. service members at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida just after a briefing and enjoying lunch with service members.
Trump began by discussing how “radical Islamic terrorists are determined to strike our homeland” just like 9/11, in the Boston bombings, and in San Bernardino. He claims that it’s “happening all over Europe” referring to Paris and Nice.
“It’s gotten to a point where it’s not even being reported. In many cases, the very, very dishonest press doesn’t want to report it. They have their reasons, and you understand that ” Trump said in his speech.
Trump did not cite nor provide any evidence that the media are ignoring terrorist attacks.
Kellyanne Conway, a top adviser to the President, attempted to justify the unconstitutional immigration ban by referencing the “Bowling Green Massacre,” which never occurred. She later confessed that she misspoke and that she meant to say “Bowling Green terrorists.” However, the Cosmopolitan claims that Conway also referred to the imaginary massacre during an interview with one of their reporters.
During Trump’s speech on Monday, Trump swore to defeat the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria and also demanded that members of NATO contribute more to the alliance.
“To these forces of death and destruction, America and its allies will defeat you,” Trump said, adding that the U.S. needs “strong programs” to keep out “people who want to destroy us and destroy our country.”
He claims this was the purpose of implementing the immigration ban, which has now been temporarily halted by a federal judge thanks to Washington State’s lawsuit.
